STAINED GLASS CLASSES

After 20 years of being the Stained Glass teacher at the Columbia Center for the Arts, Loki retired. It was time to move on and she decided to make part of the “Shop” at Sanctuary into a working stained glass studio. This had been a dream for many years. The copper fountain business was and still shares a part of the Shop and hopefully always will. The fire and the torch are addictive, so is stained glass.

So, after much rearranging the Shop will have an Open House to show those who might be interested in classes here what the “rustic atmosphere” is really all about. It is an old barn, actually had horses in the past. Classes have been conducted in the space for one year now and the students just love it. This is amazing when you think of how modern our world is and yet folks like the rustic, down home atmosphere, no air conditioning, tin roof and fans.

Take a look at some of the photos that accompany this section. One can readily see that it does get hot later in the Summer but we work primarily in the evenings when it does cool down somewhat. The art that the students create is fabulous. Some are new and start with the beginner program and end up with a beautiful masterpiece in seven short weeks. Others are continuing glass enthusiasts and refine and finish some of the works started a while back.

Here are some testimonials from recent happy, satisfied students.

“Excellent! Loki you are a wealth of knowledge that I feel extremely fortunate to have stumbled onto. You are patient, a great instructor to learn from.” Cheryl B.

“I finished and love my piece – need I say more?! Love was in your heart at all times. Your passion and light shined through.” Devan. M

“I like the feeling of being outside, if you offered this inside a building, I may not have been as interested. Your instruction was step by step and informative, logical and made sense every step of the way.” Serina R.

“Not having to cart the stuff home and back each week is a blessing. It is not for anyone who never leaves the comfort of their air-conditioned spaces, but for me, it was a wonderful experience. I’m going to continue.” Peggy R.

“Five stars… I really liked it and it was a lot of fun. 100% cool. I made new friends and felt totally comfortable the entire session.” Jane S.

Classes are now forming for Fall 2019.  Space is limited to 5 students for each level of instruction.  Use the Contact Form to express your interest or sign-up.
