THE DRUMMING CIRCLE

The drumming circle at Sanctuary started 106 months ago as of this writing. The circle sprang forth as a result of a need for music and singing at the Medicine Wheel Ceremonies.

There were no CD’s or famous drumming circle facilitators in our area in those days. We had to resort to library information and songs we’d heard over the years at various events.

Smiling Bear and Loki took the opportunity offered them, picked up the baton and started a group called the Heartbeat Drummers. Over the years, a song book for the group has evolved. It is amazing how quickly the good people find their voices that have been quiet for so long. The songs are easy to learn and so much fun to sing in your car!

The group gathers monthly to sing and share stories and support Mother Earth in song and spirit. There is quite a sense of family within the group, and that changes with the seasons or reasons in a lifetime. Fun is had by one and all.
